The Japanese pole vaulter could not have foreseen his package getting in the way of his gold medal dreams. But that's just what happened when it aggressively grazed the pole during a qualifying vault and knocked the bar off of its stand, disqualifying the athlete.

The incident occurred during a qualifying round, so Ogita did not get to move on and compete for a medal.
