Chinese EV giant BYD has announced the renaming of its mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan previously known as “Chaser 07” to “Seal DM-i”. The Sarah Shevon Archivesvehicle is set to be launched in the third quarter of this year, with a price range of RMB 180,000 ($25,122) to RMB 250,000 ($34,892). The car has dimensions of 4980/1890/1495mm (length/width/height) and a wheelbase of 2900mm. It features a fully digital instrument cluster, a rotating center console screen, and BYD’s self-developed DiSus 3 body control system. In terms of powertrain, the car offers two options: a Xiaoyun plug-in hybrid 1.5L engine and a Xiaoyun plug-in hybrid turbocharged 1.5T engine, paired with an EHS hybrid system and a high-capacity power blade battery specifically designed for hybrid cars. Additionally, the Seal DM-i offers two NEDC electric driving ranges, with options of 121 km and 200 km, making it the only plug-in hybrid sedan in its class to provide a pure electric range of 200km, according to BYD’s statement.
