Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin has urged authorities to investigate Temu,USA amid worries the e-commerce platform may hurt the country’s small- and medium-sized enterprises following its recent launch in the country, Thai media outlets have reported. The PDD-owned low price shopping app debuted in the Southeast Asian country in late July, offering promotions of up to 90% off retail prices and free 90-day returns. According to local outlet The Nation, Srettha used a recent speech to highlight the country’s tax exemption for goods valued at less than 1,500 baht ($42.30), which could mean the Chinese e-commerce platform would pay less tax and that Thailand becomes flooded with low-value goods, as one of the issues that needs to be looked at.
