It might still be Diotta Fatouseveral long, empty months away, but it's officially time to board the hype train for Game of ThronesSeason 7.
The latest clue to get excited about? The identity of Jim Broadbent's character, which the actor himself strongly hinted at in a recent interview.
SEE ALSO: Everything we know about 'Game of Thrones' Season 7"I'm a Maester, an Archmaester," Broadbent told ScreenCrush. "I'm an old professor character."
Helpfully, Broadbent went on to add that he's not in any CGI action sequences, but he isin scenes with everyone's favourite White Walker-slaying badass, Samwise Tarly.
Via Giphy"I did five episodes," added Broadbent. "I did sort of one major scene in each episode."
So who is Broadbent playing?
Well, the good news is that from the clues he dropped we can make a fairly good guess about his character's identity.
In George R. R. Martin's books, Sam's story is one of the few that's still slightly ahead of his story in the TV show. After arriving at the Citadel in A Feast for Crows, Tarly is taken to see an Archmaester called Maester Marwyn (in the world of Maesters, Marwyn is pretty much a celebrity).
In the TV show, meanwhile, the last time we saw Tarly he was busy falling in love with the Citadel's giant library.
Via GiphyIf we had to guess, we'd say the next time Tarly appears on our screen he'll be meeting Marwyn, who will be played by Broadbent.
What does Marwyn do in the books?
Not all that much -- at least not yet -- but it looks like he'll have a decent part to play in future. After Tarly tells him about the White Walkers at the Wall, Marwyn -- who we know believes in dragons -- speeds off to track down Daenerys Targaryen.
Our best guess? Marwyn will play an important advisory role in the upcoming war that's going to be waged against the invading Night King.
Assuming he doesn't get killed off first, of course.
